Agastache foeniculum (Anise Hyssop)


A large native perennial at between three and four feet, Agastache foeniculum (Anise Hyssop) is found in dry to mesic prairies and savannas. It is beloved by pollinators as a nectar plant and its sturdy violet flower spikes bloom all summer. The anise-scented foliage and stems are edible and may be used in teas and potpourri. This species is native to central Illinois.
