Allium cernuum (Nodding Wild Onion) flowers burst like fireworks in mid-summer to give a real show! Its leaf texture, compact shape, and short height lend itself well to a border placement and accents. Legend has it that Chicago was named after the "Wild Onion" or "Wild Garlic" , which some say is this species.
