Aronia arbutifolia (Red Chokeberry) is an excellent shrub to plant in larger landscapes to backdrop areas, wooded edges, and borders for privacy. Its red fruit stays into winter providing a refreshing splash of color in the dreary winter. Careful on smaller landscapes as it can overtake adjacent plantings. Fruits are sometimes used to make jams or jellies. A great replacement for the invasive burning bush as it turns a spectacular red in the fall.
