Liatris spicata (Dense Blazing Star, Marsh Blazing Star) is a great butterfly plant in any garden!!!!  This Blazing Star is a medium to tall prairie forb found in many butterfly and perennial gardens with spikes of violet florets that bloom beginning in August. A favorite of bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, this blazing star favors medium to wet sites.  It is very similar looking to Prairie Blazing Star, but as indicated by its common name has more densely packed flowers on its stalk.
