Giving Back Is Built In: How Natural Communities Reinvests in Land, People, and Place

At Natural Communities, restoration doesn’t end when seed hits the soil.

From the very beginning, we made a commitment that a meaningful portion of our work would extend beyond the landscapes we help restore — back into the organizations, educators, and community partners working every day to protect and care for the land.

For the past three consecutive years, we have donated a minimum of 25% of our annual profits to conservation, education, and stewardship efforts across the Midwest and beyond. This isn’t a one-time campaign or a line item — it’s built into how we operate.

Why We Give This Way

Native plants don’t exist in isolation. Healthy prairies, wetlands, woodlands, and savannas rely on long-term protection, public access, education, and stewardship. Many of the organizations doing this work operate with limited funding but outsized impact.

By reinvesting a portion of our profits, we aim to:

  • Support on-the-ground conservation and land protection
  • Strengthen community-based stewardship and education
  • Partner with organizations that reflect our values of science-based restoration and long-term care
  • Keep conservation work locally rooted and regionally connected

Organizations We’ve Supported

Over the last year, Natural Communities has supported a wide range of partners working across land conservation, habitat restoration, cultural education, and community engagement, including:

These partners represent a spectrum of conservation work — from protecting thousands of acres to educating future land stewards — and we’re proud to support them.

How This Connects to the Work You Do

Every seed mix, flat of plants, or restoration project supported through Natural Communities contributes to more than a single site.

Your purchase helps:

  • Fund conservation education and outreach
  • Support land acquisition and protection efforts
  • Strengthen nonprofit partners doing long-term stewardship
  • Build healthier, more resilient landscapes at every scale

Whether you’re restoring a backyard, managing a preserve, or planning a multi-phase project, you’re part of a larger conservation network — one that extends well beyond individual property lines.

Looking Ahead

As we plan for the seasons ahead — including Spring 2026 plant production and preorders — our commitment remains the same:
to grow responsibly, restore thoughtfully, and give back consistently.

Thank you for being part of this work with us. We’re grateful for the trust you place in Natural Communities and for the role you play in strengthening the future of our natural landscapes.
