This beautiful ephemeral plant yellow flowers and is uncommon in many part of Illinois. The leaves of this plants are extremely beautiful and the distinctive mottled leaved give it the "trout" in white trout lily. Can be successfully established in dappled light with moist to mesic soil moisture and high organic content, but it can take many years to establish and produce a flower. It can form great early ground cover, but this plant like all true ephemerals fades away as the summer unfolds.
