When is the best time to plant trees and shrubs?

Fall is the best time to plant native trees and shrubs. With the cool and moist fall, the tree too continue to develop and root in. When spring hits your trees and shrubs have a head start, a more robust root system, and they will grow larger faster and be less stressed. A less stressed tree is more resilient to the hot dry summer, diseases, pests, and a healthier looking tree.  If you are in it for the long haul with your tree (you are) fall planting is your friend.
