Actaea rubra (Red Baneberry)


Flowers have small white petals, showy stamens and a rose-like fragrance; borne in a fluffy cluster. Berry is commonly shiny red; occasionally white. Common name, Baneberry, refers to the plants toxicity, derived from Anglo-Saxon for murderous,"bana". Most parts of this plant are extremely toxic and should not be consumed.
