Carex stricta (Common Tussock Sedge) prefers wet prairie and shallow marsh habitats. Fine delicate foliage grows to form dense tufts that can be used in rain gardens to for a unique texture. In wetter marsh sites, the tuft forms above the water line creating a tussock sedge meadow.
