Liriodendron tulipifera (Tulip Tree) is one of my favorite trees with its majestic 4'-6' mature tree trunk, lush green foliage, pyramid shape, relatively fast growth, showy tulip-like flowers, and its golden yellow fall color!!! It is one of the largest native trees in North America and is a member of the magnolia family. Tulip Tree can be used as a large shade tree, a specimen tree, and if given enough soil and canopy space and the correct conditions a street tree. However, this tree is not very tolerant of salt so avoid busy streets with high salt use. This is a unique and exotic (but native) tree indeed!!!!
