Claytonia virginica (Spring Beauty) is truly one of the beauties carpeting the woodland floor in the spring.  You may also see this plant carpeting the lawn of older homes on remnant oak woodland sites.  It is one of the earliest flowering plants in shaded areas and one of the quickest to disappear.  Cherish its fleeting beauty!
