Lespedeza capitata is a legume can be found in mesic to dry prairies and savannas. It has upright stems that will remain strong well into the winter even with heavy sonw and providing some interest into the following spring. The small white flowers cluster together to form small heads attracting a variety of bees and catepillars. Associates of this plant are Amorpha canescens and Oligoneuron rigidum.
