Physostegia virginiana (Obedient Plant)

This plant is medium in height.  A very showy and interesting plant for medium to wetter soils.  It gets the name "obedient" from its flowers that can be moved by hand and they will stay put.  Though it is called obedient, it can form dense colonies covering the ground. That's great if that is what you're looking for, however, this plant can be aggressive in smaller landscapes.

  • Sun Exposure Prairie/Savanna
  • Soil Conditions Wet, Wet Mesic, Mesic
  • Height 3'-4'
  • Flower Color White to Pink
  • Flower Time August, September
