Helianthus divaricatus (Woodland Sunflower) is a common flower found in open woodlands, savannas, and woodland edges.  It prefers mesic to dry conditions. The beautiful yellow flowers can fill a woodland in full fall glory.  However, be careful in small woodland gardens as it can be aggressive and overtake areas easily in conditions it prefers.
