Podophyllum peltatum (Mayapple or May Apple)

This is a quintessential woodland garden plant!!! Umbrella-like leaves emerge in early April and a white flower follows. An egg-shaped edible fruit occurs after flowering. Can grow in 100% to 50% shade; 70% preferred. An ephemeral; goes dormant in summer, earlier with more sun.
