Plant characteristics

Acer saccharinum (Silver Maple) is a treasured street and urban tree because it grows fast, is tolerant to salt, thrives in a variety of soil moisture, and is tolerant to air pollution.  It is not without its problems though, because it grows quickly it is susceptible to week wooded limb splits and it can seed profusely.  If you are looking for a large, graceful yet tough street tree, this may be your best bet.
